Simone Bacci was born in Florence in 1961 beginning his
studies in photography
in 1982. In 1985 he opened a joint commercial
studio working in theatre, portraiture and advertising
and began teaching photography for an university
association. After his interest moved to
architecture photography, in 1989 met the founder of
Studio Marangoni, where he collaborated in the
development of a 3 years program, with participation
from many visiting artists, and taught photography to
Italian and foreign students. He has been working with
American and Italian students and teaching at American
colleges and universities since 1991. In addition to
the courses he teaches for Santa Reparata International
School of Art, he teaches for APAB/Sif and Studio
Marangoni. Bacci has completed public commissions of
urban landscape and environmental photography for the
cities of San Casciano in V. di P., Sesto F.no and the
Province of Milan. Working in both analog black and
white and digital color photography, currently his
personal research involves the study of the elemental
components of the landscape, the “void” or absence, and
the psychological side of the picture process.
